As Premier League rivals continue to strengthen during the summer transfer window, Manchester United are once again floundering. This should come as no surprise to anyone paying attention to the manner in which the Glazers have mismanaged this historic club over the past decade.
To find the most obvious and glaring example of Ed Woodward’s incompetence and lack of prowess, luck no further than the first major decision he made. Sir Alex handpicked the disastrous appointment of David Moyes, but it was Woodward and the Glazers that turned a blind eye as Moyes gutted the staff and expertise Fergie had built over two decades.
David Moyes. Louis van Gaal. Jose Mourinho. A chump; a dinosaur; a troll. The connective tissue between all three of these disastrous appointments is Woodward and the Glazers. Between losing money on countless transfers gone bad, selling young players on the cheap without buy-back rights, Woodward has gotten the football side of his job wrong at every turn.
Enter Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The progress being made by Ole and Co. is palpable; between giving youth a chance to playing “the United Way”, it’s clear that United is back on the right track. Remember, Ole bailed out a Manchester United on the verge of going broke by qualifying for Champions League.
Hiring a Director of Football should be the first priority for United this summer. Ed Woodward has proven time and again that he’s arguably the worst CEO among the world’s elite football clubs.
Any owner with a shred of business sense would know Woodward has been an absolute disaster for both the club and the brand. However, the Glazers is not returning this storied club back to the top; it’s about greed, simple as that.
Manchester United will continue to suffer and underperform as long as Woodward and the Glazers are calling the shots. The sooner fans figure out this fundamental fact, the better.
Sack the board! Glazers Out!
