A decisive win for Manchester United, does this define safety for the manager or buy him some more time? Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently became the third-fastest United manager to reach 50 wins in all competition after 92 matches. This places him behind Ernest Mangnall, who holds the fastest to 50 record, accomplishing it in just 78 games, and Jose Mourinho, who wasn’t far behind at 81.
We all know what happened with the Jose saga, but is it a similar story for Ole? News has been pushed out that links Manchester United with Mauricio Pochettino, but would bring in yet another manager with the same front of house staff have any different effect? Ed Woodward failed to sign a single one of Ole’s top targets in the transfer window. This certainly left some doubt in my mind about the state of the trust in Ole, but isn’t he just another in the long line of scapegoats?
One thing is sure; we, the fans of Manchester United, expect a lot from our manager and players. Moving forward, Ole will need to continue to provide this, or he will just become the next in a long line.
