Made In Manchester – December Loan Watch

Hey Red Devils, Than here with a new addition to the American Red Devils blog. We have quite a few players who have started their careers here through the academy and are now out gaining experience at other clubs. This piece will be a once a month piece to highlight those players and provide updates on their exploits.

Tahith Chong

Tahith pulls away vs Mainz

Tahith Chong had a mixed bag in the month of December for Werder Bremen. He started two and came off the bench for the other two matches resulting in two total assisted including the tide turning assist in a 1-0 win against Mainz. Tahith also gave away a penalty against Stuttgart which was the final nail in the coffin in their 2-1 loss. The Werder Bremen head of football and scouting, Clemens Fritz, has called for patience with Tahith’s play and noted that he has seen “improvement in Chong’s defensive qualities” and they see a development that is heading in the right direction.

It is unclear how soon until we see Chong back in a Red Devil kit but lets hope his December in the Bundesliga is a sign of things to come.

James Garner

James Garner vs Luton Town

James Garner had a statistically unremarkable month of December for Watford. James started four and came off the bench for one but registered neither a goal or assist. He has registered plenty of opportunities for goal including tying a loan high three shots against Huddersfield Town but has been extremely unfortunate to not beat the keeper so far on the year. While James hasn’t had the best season so far, he is keeping his head up and staying positive.

Andreas Pereira

Andreas looking happy over a potential new start at Lazio

Andreas Pereria’s December was extremely similar to James Garner with the exception that he did not start a single match for Lazio. During the course of December, Lazio recorded two wins, one draw and two losses in which Andreas recorded three shots in total. In his time at Lazio, he has committed more fouls (3) than shots on target (2), goals (1) or assists (0). Its safe to say that he will be looking to escape Italy at seasons end.

Joel Pereira

Joel warming up prior to his start against Stoke in November

Joel saw no action in November with Huddersfield Town electing alternative net minders against their December foes.
