Manchester United continue their quest for a top-four finish in the Premier League, traveling to the West Midlands to take on a struggling Aston Villa side on Thursday evening.
Regardless of whether or not FIFA punish Manchester City in the Champions League, United are creeping closer to the 4th spot in the league, giving them certain qualifications for next year’s Champions League play.
Don’t expect much of a lineup change from the squad that took the pitch for the 5-2 win over Bournemouth last match:
Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial are the catalyst of the United offense, so they are clear choices to start and score. Aston Villa has given up more goals than any other team in the top flight during the 2019-20 campaign, so this could be fun!
Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have formed a very impressive midfield pairing following the restart, meaning Fred and Scott McTominay on the bench once again.
United’s only new injury concern is Victor Lindelof, who was subbed off at half-time in the victory over Bournemouth due to a back problem. If he isn’t able to pass fitness, expect Eric Bailly to take his spot in the backline.
A victory for United at Villa Park on Thursday will extend their unbeaten run on the road to 11 games in all competitions, and United have only given four goals away from home in that time.
However, Villa managed to salvage a draw in the reverse fixture as the sides played out a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford back in December.
As for Aston Villa, they don’t have any new injuries and all eyes will be on United target Jack Grealish, as the Red Devils contemplate a move to lure him away in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa possible starting lineup:
Reina; Konsa, Hause, Mings, Taylor; El Ghazi, Luiz, McGinn, Trezeguet; Grealish; Davis
Manchester United possible starting lineup:
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; Pogba, Matic; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial
