American Red Devil Take: Sounds like the folks over at Barca FC are a little pissed about Dutchman choosing another club…honestly, this is the realest sign yet that we might have a chance. Stay Tuned!

MANCHESTER UNITED’s pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt has been mocked by a Barcelona insider, according to reports.

Manchester United are scrapping with Barcelona to sign De Ligt from Ajax this summer, with the teenager poised to leave the Eredivisie giants.

The 19-year-old’s stellar displays this summer have put him on the radar of European giants, with Juventus, Bayern Munich and Liverpool also in the mix for his signature.

Manchester United are trying to gazump Barcelona on De Ligt with a dizzying contract offer.

The person, who is unnamed, supposedly said: ““With the state they’re in, it’s not far off picking the Chinese league, career-wise.

“It’d be sacrificing development and ambition for money in the same way.”

United have relied on offering blockbuster wages to top targets in recent years – but to their peril.

The club broke the bank for Paul Pogba when the France international wanted to leave Juventus in 2016.
