Top Manchester United Striker Targets Not Named Haaland or Mbappe

Manchester United signing Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe this summer would be great. While those two are probably on the top of everyone’s list, let’s take a look at some other not so realistic, some possible, and a few other players that could be targeted. Here are the top Manchester United striker targets for this summer.

The “Break the bank, no way these will happen” signings:

Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur

Age: 27

Current Value: $130 Million

Kane has 17 goals and 13 assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season. Not only a prolific striker but also a precise set up man. If you look at how he plays with Heung-min Son, it is not hard to believe he would have tremendous success with Rashford and Greenwood as his wingers. His contract is not up until the summer of 2023, but there are rumblings that he wants out and Tottenham are either going to have to lower the asking price or hold him hostage, only making the ending to his time there sour. He is currently the highest valued player in the Premier League. It would take some kind of magic to get him to Manchester United.

Joao Felix – Atletco Madrid

Age: 21

Current Value: $90 Million

Felix has 7 goals and 5 assists in 24 LaLiga appearances this season. He currently plays in a striker pair with Luis Suarez, but he can absolutely be used as a solo number 9. Atletico Madrid paid $142 Million for him in 2019 and I am sure it would take more than that to get him. Not going to happen.

Lautaro Martinez – Inter Milan

Age: 23

Current Value: $80 Million

Martinez has 14 goals and 8 assists in 27 Serie A appearances this season. Maybe United can use the leverage of not getting paid for Lukaku in discussions for Martinez. Inter still owe about $40 Million and we could throw another $40 Million on top and call it even. I would be shocked if something like this went down.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Everton

Age: 24

Current Value: $50 Million

Calvert-Lewin has 14 goals and 2 assists in 25 Premier League appearances this season. Signed a new contract with Everton in March of 2020.  Very talented and has not yet reached his peak. Everton have been reported wanting around $100 million for him.

The “Strikers that can make a big impact but aren’t at the top of every list” signings:

Andre Silva – Eintracht Frankfurt

Age: 25

Current Value: $40 Million

Silva has 21 goals and 5 assists in 24 Bundesliga appearances this season. He has as many goals as Haaland this year in their league.

Alexander Isak – Real Sociedad

Age: 21

Current value: $35 Million

Isak has 12 goals and 2 assists in 24 La Liga appearances this season. Borussia Dortmund have a $35 Million buy back option and could execute it if Haaland leaves this summer.

Moise Kean – Everton

Age: 21

Current Value: $35 Million

Kean has 11 goals in 20 Ligue 1 appearances with PSG this season. He is current loan there expires this summer. With the further emergence of Calvert-Lewin, Everton might look to cash in on Kean and invest that money in another position.

The “Reasonably priced options that can make an impact while saving some money for other positions in 2021” signings:

Luka Jovic – Real Madrid

Age: 23

Current Value: $23 Million

Has 3 goals and one assist in 11 Bundesliga appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt this season. He is currently on loan there after being purchased from them for $66 Million in 2019. He has not found too much favor while with Real Madrid, they could look to move him and make some money back on their investment when he returns to them this summer.

Patrick Bamford – Leeds United

Age: 27

Current value:  $20 Million.

Has 14 goals and 7 assists in 29 Premier League appearances this season. He can also play on the wing for added rotation depth. His current contract expires in the summer of 2022, Leeds could want to move on before losing him if he chooses not to sign with them again.

The “Commit to Mason Greenwood as main striker and bring in some depth” signings:

Let us start this section by looking at the man himself.

Mason Greenwood – Manchester United

Age: 19

Current Value: $55 Million

While he does not have an eye-popping stat sheet this season, we all have seen how dangerous Mason can be on the attack in the middle of the box. Ole seems to be slowly exposing Mason to the number nine role, while many believe that move needs to be made permanent. If he can develop his skills to further fit the position, it could save United money this season to invest in other areas like a right-winger, defensive midfielder, and center back.

Now here are a few players that could be brought in to add depth under Mason. I would personally love to see an American play for Manchester United as there have only ever been 4.

Josh Sargent – Werder Bremen

Age: 21

Current Value: $10 Million

Has 5 goals and 2 assists in 25 Bundesliga appearances this season. Contract expires in the summer of 2022 so Werder Bremen could want to cash in while the pan is hot. Would be a low risk/high reward option if he meets his true potential in a Manchester United kit.

Ignatius Ganago – RC Lens

Age: 22

Current Value: $9 Million

Has 5 goals and 2 assists in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season. Has shown the ability to not only stay calm, but also have solid movement in the box.

Matthew Hoppe – Schalke

Matthew Hoppe – Schalke

Age: 20

Current Value: $5 Million

Has 5 goals in 16 Bundesliga appearances this season. Maybe not the most creative player in the box at this point in his career, but he has shown the ability to finish, and at that price that would be a welcome addition.

See, there are other options out there. If it were up to me, I would do absolutely anything to sign Haaland. If we miss out and he ends up in the Premier League, it’ll be awful watching him score on Manchester United while wearing some shade of blue. All we can do is hope that the clowns in charge don’t completely fuck this up.
