Football has been on break for a few months now, and while the Bundesliga provides a reference for how the Premier League will look during the restart, we still do not know what to expect. The fixtures will come in thick and quick for our Red Devils and qualifying for the Champions League is essential. The following is what we should expect to see from United and how it may help them get into the top four.
Fully Healthy Roster
We have never seen the current United squad fully healthy. Bruno Fernandes improved a banged-up squad when he arrived, so imagine how he could help a healthy United side. Rashford, Pogba, and Martial all look to rejoin the squad in full fitness.
These lineups look to have one of the highest potentials for United in years. The restart is also the perfect time for stars to learn to play with each other (like Pogba and Bruno) and also for youngsters (like Gomes and Chong) to get game-time due to the heavy fixture schedule. United look strong all over the pitch, but most of this squad will need to stay healthy if United have any chance of bringing home a trophy (FA Cup / Europa League) or qualifying for Champions League by finishing in the top four of the Premier League.
Pogba and Bruno
As mentioned above, this partnership has been long-awaited. With a transfer looking unlikely for Pogba, he will look to solidify his spot as a crucial member of United’s midfield. Two world-class midfielders together are exactly what United need. Bruno has been carrying the creative workload, but with Pogba back Bruno will be allowed to be more free-roaming with less responsibility. If the restart has any benefits, surely one is that Pogba and Bruno will finally get a chance to play on the same pitch.
Rotational Players Getting Games
Due to the intense amount of games, Ole will be giving backups a chance to keep the squad fresh. Most notably, youngsters like Chong, Gomes, Garner, Fosu-Mensah, and Tuanzebe will probably get chances during the restart. Older players looking to break back into the squad like Lingard, Pereira, and Shaw all need to seize their opportunities. The restart is a rare chance for these players to get a spot in the squad again. If they underperform, then their careers at Old Trafford could be nearing an end.
Thanks for reading. Glory Glory Man United.
