Looks like the rumors are true, Manchester United is planning to create a team of former players to evaluate the club’s transfer strategy per the Sun.

Fletcher, 35, is expected to head up a team who will be charged with finding players to fit the United DNA.

Darren Fletcher is rumored to lead the line on the three-person committee, but some have questioned his lack of experience in evaluating football talent. Since Jose Mourinho was fired, there was talk of hiring a sole Technical Director, but now it looks like the Board is hesitant to give up that power at Manchester United.
Without making Ed Woodward formally give up his football decision making, this move doesn’t accomplish much and is more for PR than anything. Hiring an accomplished Technical Director with experience in European football is a must for Manchester United at this stage. They owe it to the fans to get this club back on track in the most sane way possible versus using Manchester United legends to give Ed Woodward cover.
