Manchester United’s U23s take on West Ham’s U23s this Friday at 2:00PM EST. Neil Wood’s squad will be traveling to Rush Green in London to take on the Hammers. The Reds have been enjoying a rich vein of form. United’s U23s have taken 11 points in their last 5 league games. West Ham have only taken 1 point in their last 5 games and only 2 points all season. The Hammers sit at the very bottom of the Premier League 2 Division 1 table. The Reds should be able to run riot on the Hammers and come away with 3 points.
Manchester United Team Report
With the last win over Tottenham, the Reds have jumped to 6th on the table with 11 points. United has scored the most goals this season in Division 1, a whopping 19 goals. However, their defense still continues to leak goals, they’ve let in 17. Though it won’t matter if the defense lets in a goal because United’s offense will be enough to overpower West Ham. The Reds last game went against one of the best defenses in PL2 and put in 4 goals. Therefore, West Ham doesn’t stand much of a chance.
Arnau Puigmal scored a brace against Tottenham, making him United’s leading goal scorer with 5 goals in just 3 games. Also Hannibal has been electric in the midfield, his presence on the field gives the Reds an edge. He leads United with 3 assists on the season. Fans will be eager to see new boy Facundo Pellistri get more minutes. Last game against Tottenham, Pellistri started and didn’t disappoint. Early in the first half, the winger fired a rocket of a cross leading to United’s opening goal.
West Ham Team Report
West Ham’s U23s haven’t enjoyed the same success as United. As I stated before they sit at the very bottom of the PL2 Division 1 table with only 2 points. The Hammers have had a difficult time this season on both sides of the ball. West Ham has only scored 9 goals this season, tied for lowest in Division 1. Their defense has also let in the most goals at 18. This form will not help the Hammers on Friday as they try to stop United’s brilliant offense.
United’s defense will have to look out for Oladapo Afolayan. The center forward has scored a team high 4 goals for West Ham this season. United will also have to watch out for Conor Coventry and Mesaque Dju. They’ve scored 3 and 2 goals respectively. The Reds’ defense will look to get their first shutout of the season, but West Ham’s offense will look to ruin those plans.
With United and West Ham it has been the tale of two teams this season. The Reds are on a winning streak of three games with at least 4 goals in their last two games. The Hammers are coming into the match with the opposite, a three game losing streak. I predict that the Reds will win 4-1. United’s offense will use their pace and creativity to simply devastate West Ham. Puigmal and Hannibal will both score with Anthony Elanga netting a brace. United’s defense haven’t kept a clean sheet all season, so I predict that West Ham’s Afolayan will snag a lucky goal. However, no matter what happens on defense the Reds should come away with 3 points this Friday.
