The American Red Devils Introduce Chris Champagne (CD) As A Guest Contributor

Hello all! My name is Chris Champagne, or CD, and I am happy to say that I’ve joined the American Red Devils team to help cover the greatest club on earth.

Although I had played soccer, or football, since I could essentially run… I first started watching Manchester United in 2006 (my freshman year of high school), back when the Red Devils were still managed by the greatest manager of all time, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Despite the pressure from friends who were Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal supporters… What drew me to United was the “never say die” attitude that defined Sir Alex’s tenure. No matter what the deficit was, you always had a feeling that United were never out of a match with standouts like Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs, Ferdinand, & Scholes. Every player gave 100% for the club day in and day out. Players believed the badge on the front was more significant than the name on the back.

In 2007, I had an English teacher named Gavin who had immigrated from England and gave me stick about how United began their 07-08 campaign.

“United’s not looking so great this year you know,” he goes.

“I’m not too worried about it, plenty of games to go,” I reply.

Gavin rolled his eyes and says, “typical United fan.”

United then went on to win the league (again), and also win their second Champions League crown under Sir Alex. Typical United under Fergie.

Ever since, I’ve taken a deeper dive into the club I love… Reading Fergie’s books, joining groups to discuss United, staying up to date with current news regarding the club, learning the history, listening to podcasts, etc.

United holds a place in my heart, and hearts of fans around the world, despite the recent ups and downs. That is why this club is special, the passion is unwavering from a loss to Watford, to a win at the Etihad, the fans stand behind the club.

I look forward to covering Manchester United even more closely with the American Red Devil’s, as well as watching our beloved team make its journey back to glory with you.

For Fans, by Fans. Kickin a blue.
