WELCOME TO MANCHESTER: The Alex Telles Difference

Ever since the departure of Marouane Fellaini last year, Manchester United have certainly not filled the best hair position until the arrival of Alex Telles. Besides that excellent man bun, what else does Telles, one of our last signings during the summer window, bring to the table? I think the answer lies in strong crosses, passing, and ball control.

Where Does Telles Stack Up?

The signing of Alex Telles, who last season had 11 goals and 8 assists in 31 matchday appearances, speaks volumes to his potential. In the same season, Luke Shaw had 24 appearances with no goals and no assists, raises some questions about who we could be seeing in the left-back role consistently on game day.

Could the argument be made that it will be an adjustment period as Telles is fresh to the Premier League? I think the answer is yes; however, with some quality minutes and starting appearances, I think we could see the starting position be challenged.

Signing Telles helps us in a couple of ways outside of just the stats. Brandon Williams, who has been utilized as the number two option behind Shaw, can now break-in on the right side behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka and gives some challenges at that position. It only helps a squad when the players feel a bit of competition to continue producing. Luke Shaw said it himself; he was all for the club bringing in some competition for him. I think we could also see a possibility of Luke Shaw lining up to the right of Telles and helping to strengthen the CB options for Ole.

Bottom Line

Time will tell what Telles brings to the table, but the statistics don’t lie. We certainly have a great player for the price, and I am excited to see what he can bring to the table.

What do you think about Alex Telles and what he can bring to the table for Manchester United?
