Happy weekend, Red Devils! We’ve made it through another long week in this chaotic year that is 2020. This week, we saw our U18s take on Liverpool and pull out a dramatic 4-3 victory. We also saw our U23s dispatch Southampton 3-1 which was a welcome rebound after their 2-0 loss to West Ham last week. Below are two players worth mentioning for their standout performances for their respective sides.
UNDER 18 SPOTLIGHT: JOE HUGILL
Who Are Ya??: Joe Hugill is an English strike who was born on 10/19/2003. He join the Red Devils on 07/01/2020 from Sunderland.
Stats vs Liverpool
Joe had a solid match versus Liverpool. Joe put the game on its head by knabbing a brace to bring United back from the brink. In the 79th minute, Joe scored after the Liverpool goalkeeper deflected a rocket off the foot of Noam Emeran into his path. The striker found himself with a golden opportunity and cashed in. In the 85th minute, United found themselves on the attack with the momentum on their side. After a cross into the box, chaos ensued and Hugill found the ball land to his feet. He turned right and smashed the ball passed the keeper to secure a come from behind victory!
UNDER 23 SPOTLIGHT: ARNAU PUIGMAL
Who Are Ya??: Arnau Puigmal is a Spanish midfielder who was born 01/10/2001. Arnau joined Manchester United on 09/06/2017 from Espanyol. Arnau was my spotlight player for the month of November. He continues to impress with another solid game to add to his run of form.
Stats vs Southampton
Arnau added a late goal to his recent tally by scoring in fifth minute of stoppage time. Shola Shoretire put a beautiful ball through to Arnau which sprung him free against the keeper. The Southampton keeper saved the initial attempt but was left to watch as Arnau slotted the rebound into the goal. Arnau also added an assist to his tally by setting up Anthony Elanga’s 39th minute strike to break the initial deadlock.
