MATCH PREVIEW: RB Leipzig vs. Manchester United (UCL)

Match Build-Up

It couldn’t be easier for Manchester United to control their own destiny as they head into Tuesday’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig; win or draw and they advance, lose and they are Europa bound. United, PSG and RB Leipzig are all on nine points in Group H going into the final round of matches; United need just a draw to qualify for last 16

United are coming off the back of a confidence-boosting second-half comeback win over West Ham and look to carry that momentum into Tuesday. The last time United faced Leipzig they came out on the good end of a 5-0 thrashing at Old Trafford. It probably won’t be that easy tomorrow since Leipzig can advance as well.

Manchester United Team News

During the morning press conference, Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that strikers Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial, who were both withdrawn due to injury in the weekend win at West Ham United, are unavailable for the trip to Germany.

Fred is, of course, also sidelined after picking up a red card in the 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last week. Leipzig will be without highly-rated center-back Dayot Upamecano, who is suspended after receiving a third yellow card of the group stage during the dramatic win at Istanbul Basaksehir last time out.

Projected Lineup

Expect David de Gea to return to the nets after taking this weekend off to heal his sore knee. Depending on the formation, United used a 3-4-1-2 with great success, Axel Tuanzebe is in line for a spot in the starting XI, while Alex Telles should again get the nod on the left as Luke Shaw has still not fully recovered from a hamstring issue.

AWB, Maguire, and Lindelof will more than likely round oud the backline. Midfield could go a few different ways, again, based on the formation. If it a formation of used in the past matches, Fernandes, Pogba, Van de Beek McTominay could all be in consideration in some way shape, or form.

Upfront will be Rashford and Greenwood. ….. that was easy

Manchester United possible starting lineup:

De Gea; Lindelof, Maguire, Tuanzebe; Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, Pogba, Telles; Fernandes; Greenwood, Rashford
